National GOP leadership and the StarTribune queried outside the CD-3 area and predict a GOP loss unless moderate Jim Ramstad returns as a candidate.

Facing Democratic challengers for all three of the congressional seats they hold in Minnesota, Republican leaders have been quietly meeting with Ramstad, a source close to Ramstad has told the Star Tribune.

It appears a vote of no confidence for anyone but a moderate Republican (Ramstad), as more potential candidates have dropped out. Rep. Erik Paulsen of Eden Prairie (a conservative) is the leading contender.

But Paulsen or any other Republican is likely in for a tough fight, one that many observers say the Republicans can ill afford. "It's a pitched battle," Schier said. "And with Jim, there's no pitched battle. So I'm sure they [party leaders] are putting a lot of effort into changing his mind."

No question that it will be a tough fight, but this is our chance to promote conservatism. Has any GOP leader learned from Michelle Bachmann's successful campaign? The StarTribune looks at the DFL candidates:

Rep. Terri Bonoff, DFL-Minnetonka, is the leading DFL candidate, although Edina Mayor John Hovland, a moderate Republican who recently switched parties, said he is considering a run as a DFLer.

A moderate Republican who recently switched parties. A moderate Republican Jim Ramstad. RNCC members quietly meeting with the Rammer to plead he not drop out. What is the GOP afraid of? And the NRCC wonders why their fundraising numbers are so low.

The most recent Federal Election Commission reports show GOP House fundraising efforts lag far behind those of congressional Democrats. The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee has about $22 million in the bank, compared with $1.6 million for the NRCC, which also lists about $4 million in debt.

Closed circuit to NRCC: Get back to conservative roots and principles, and you'll find the support returning. You'll find voters will whole-heartedly back a candidate that follows the platform, not those crossing over to appease liberals.

Lady Logician adds:

Now I understand that the NRCC is hurting for funds....that they are not able to defend all of these open seats, but really now.....

Come on guys....the US House is not a lifetime job! It was designed to be temporary! The Congressman has made his decision and the district is ready to move forward to meet the challenge. If you can't handle if fine...get the heck out of our way, because the grassroots is ready to roll and make sure that we work our hardest to retain the Rammer's seat. Are you with us?
