End Around Gay Marriage Amendment

Written by Andy Aplikowski.

The Strib has a push piece from a pro-gay activist group that the time is ripe for erasing tradition and allowing gay marriage in Minnesota. Here's something that just popped into my head.

Gays literally rioted in California when voters approved defining marriage constitutionally between just one man and one woman. Well what if we go about this a different way here in Minnesota? Here's my suggestion for a marriage amendment.

"The state must recognize same sex marriages."

That way when voters overwhelmingly vote against it, which they have in every state they have had the opportunity (if memory serves), the militant gays can't complain their 'marriages' were taken away from a new definition. I know it is the same thing, but worded this way it takes away the banning angle they scream bloody murder and destroying stuff about.

[snicker] We tried to allow gay marriage, but Minnesotans wouldn't bite. [/snicker]
