On Friday, my friend Gary Gross called me about a hysterical interview he had seen on Neil Cavuto's program. Apparently someone from New Hampshire has launched a campaign for New Hampshire's "00" Congressional District, commenting just because we don't exist doesn't mean we don't deserve representation and "Even a fake district needs real leadership". Jazz, Gary and I even shared a chuckle over it during our weekly MSR podcast. I even posited that since the Utah Double Aught wasn't a real district, why not run a dog for the spot. Our border collie certainly couldn't do much more harm in DC than some of our elected "representatives" are and she meets the age requirement. Little did we know that this was just the beginning of a trend. It now appears that there are several candidates announcing for seats in phantom districts in Ohio and Kentucky.
While Jazz, Gary and I were having our discussion, the Junior Logician announced his intentions to run until his mother mentioned the age requirements. If the Constitution says he can run, well consider this permission granted son. There are plent of ways where you can have fun with this story and heaven knows if you don't have fun with the story, it will make you cry. However, there are some very real concerns about it that simply can not be laughed away. Take this quote from President Obama.
Accounting an "inexact science"? The last I looked accounting was MATHEMATICS which is a very exact science. The last I was in school there were no multiple answers to the question "1+1="?...there is only ONE ANSWER MR. PRESIDENT! This is not the square root of Pi, it is how much does the pie cost! Now you know why people think this country is in such dire straits. When you have a President (and a Congress to be fair) who thinks that math is an "inexact science" you have bigger problems than you can even imagine.
