It seems that some people are just now getting back from the Caucus and I wanted a post where we could share our experiences because I know that, for some of us, this was our first time. So…it appears that my caucus cherry was popped at a record breaking meeting. It was standing room only, and there were not enough ballots for everyone, so some straw poll ballots had to be done on blank pieces of paper. The ranking went something like this (this is NOT exact as my pen was in use at the time by someone else and I couldn’t jot them down.) None of the Above 1 Huckabee 17 Paul 19 McCain 23 Romney 68 Joyce Pepin (MN State-R) came to visit us from the Maple Grove Jr. High caucus where she told us the auditorium was packed and was standing room only and the parking lot was over flowing. Again, encouraging. After seeing what this was...talking to people, etc, I started to see why a primary has some appeal. And then Dave Thul put the final nail in as to why we NEED a primary... No matter what the Statute says, there will ALWAYS be someone who couldn't get involved because of the timing of the caucus and the rest of their life. With a primary, you get all day to vote. What about the rest of you? Encouraged? Discouraged? How did it go for you? |
