Todd McIntyre Announces Run for RPM Chair
This morning, Todd J. McIntyre announced his candidacy for the RPM chair position. He sent out the letter below to delegates and alternates along with answers to the questions for candidates from True North, but asked that we not publish them here. Being a delegate, I did recieve them in a PDF and can saw they are very thorough answers. If you would like them you will either need to contact a delegate or Todd directly.
In full disclosure, I know Todd from campaign work he has done for candidates for House here in Senate District 45. Here is his announcement.
Greetings RPM State Central Delegates and Alternates,
It’s a great day to be a Republican!!
On Saturday, December 31, the State Central Delegates will be selecting the next Chair of the Republican Party of Minnesota (RPM). I am sending this email to inform you of my desire to serve both the RPM and the State of Minnesota in this capacity. This email is my official notice to you of my candidacy to the become the next Republican Party of Minnesota Chair.
Additionally, I am also attaching my answers to the questions posed by True North. I have asked for my answers to not be published on a blog that could be read by anyone, including those in the DFL. As time allows, I will submit answers for the True North blog. Those answers will be more concise and less detailed. I have provided some depth to each question to provide you a better understanding of myself and my vision for RPM. Please, always feel free to call or email me with any questions you may have. While I do my best to respond promptly to messages, I sense that I will be somewhat overwhelmed in the coming days. I will respond to you as soon as possible.
While I’m not sure if my responses are entirely new concepts, I do not believe any potential Chair Candidate should open handedly provide the DFL with any insights on how to best reposition the RPM in the months ahead. Let’s allow the DFL to experience our restructuring through devastating defeats and especially in districts long known as DFL strongholds (i.e. Mr. Pogemiller’s vacated seat). Let’s establish a foothold in the urban core of Minneapolis-Saint Paul that will leave the DFL stunned and speechless!
I can almost hear their bewildered statement now, “We have no idea of how this happened. We are a solid DFL/blue district and a candidate with name recognition and the RPM is broke.” Then, we’ll see which political party is in disarray!
For 15 years, I drove to and through most of the counties in Minnesota brokering various types of commercial real estate investment opportunities. My travels have allowed me to see, experience and appreciate the full dynamic power of the Minnesota Market. Whether it’s understanding the complexities of a Section 42 Tax Credit structure, a HUD 236 loan, the health of the State Forests or the value of crop land, my excursions throughout Minnesota confirmed to me years ago that we have yet to experience our full potential.
The convergence of many segments of life including natural resources, agriculture, commerce and people is what makes the Star of the North resonate. “Converging Opportunity” will allow all segments to enjoy life and leverage the value of Minnesota while positioning ourselves for remarkable returns.
As a founding member of Minneapolis 2020, we had great optimism for an Olympic Bid to host the 2020 Olympic Summer Games in Minneapolis-Saint Paul. Unfortunately, the United Stated Olympic Committee (USOC) decided in February 2010 to not bid for the 2020 Games. Many key entities including Meet Minneapolis were gearing up to showcase our assets to the world. In fact, I would not even be writing this email if the 2020 Bid was in play as we would be competing against Rome, Italy; Doha, Qatar; Tokyo, Japan; Istanbul, Turkey; Madrid, Spain; and Baku, Azerbaijan. Yet, what is the USOC’s loss is the RPM’s gain!
Recently, I started a company to generate sustainable revenues for a non-profit, Great Prairie Sports (www.greatprairiesports.com). Great Prairie Foods (www.greatprairiefoods.com) currently offers remarkable coffee and olive oil in a variety of markets and online. Proceeds from the sale of our product line fund the development and programming of the Great Prairie Equestrian Center and the Great Prairie Sports Center.
As the Regional Director for USA Pentathlon (Five different sporting events competed in one day and in this order: Fencing, Swimming, Equestrian Jumping, Running/Shooting), I have started a club and an event that has attracted participants from seven states and two countries. Additionally, two youth in my club qualified for the UIPM World Youth Championships this past summer. Our goal is to send 3-4 to the 2012 Youth Worlds in Budapest, Hungary. All of this was accomplished in less than two years.
The Great Prairie Open Water Swim, a 5k or 2.5k swim event in Lake Harriet, has hosted participants from nine different states. There are a variety of other events scheduled as well.
Though I didn’t come on board until well after Labor Day, my role as the Campaign Manager for Karen Nolte’s 2008 bid for Minnesota State Representative was an absolute thrill. I thoroughly enjoyed piecing together a strategy puzzle and operating the mechanics of a campaign. Though we lost, like most Republicans that year, a desire to mold and orchestrate a bigger and more comprehensive objective was born.
If you desire a leader with a creative and strategic mindset, then I am your person. If you desire a leader who has the ability to accomplish big goals from a new concept in a short period of time, then I am your person. If you desire a leader who is able to connect with people, challenge and encourage them to reach levels they never thought possible, I am your person. If you desire a person who has detailed financial skills to understand how to best maximize revenues and minimize expenses, I am your person.
I would enjoy meeting you at my Chair Launch Party this Sunday, December 18th from 5-7 PM at the Perkins Restaurant located at the intersection of 394/Louisiana in Golden Valley. We will be using the meeting room on the left hand side as you enter the restaurant. Cinnamon rolls, cookies, muffins, brownies and a variety of hot beverages will be served. To best prepare for those who will be in attendance, please RSVP by noon on Friday, December 16, 2011.

While I would prefer to contact each of you by phone, time is fleeting. I will have a presentation table at the State Central Committee Meeting and look forward to meeting you and receiving your support on Saturday, December 31, 2011 in St. Cloud.
While there are many candidates who are interested in repositioning the RPM, there is only one candidate who is able to fully leverage the value of the RPM by “Converging Opportunity” for a remarkable Minnesota.
Let’s make it happen!!
