The DFL campaign machine is fueled by tribal casino money that buys Indian tribes protection from non-tribal gambling competition. It is fueled by phony state fair booths that funnel contributions to DFL candidates. It is fueled by government worker unions like AFSCME and Education Minnesota that want legislative protection from the economic realities outside of Agencyville.
And if money isn't enough, there are many ways to tweak election laws. The DFL has consistently fought common sense reforms on the House and Senate floors that range from ballot handling procedures to photo ID requirements. They have even tried to influence the courts by limiting what evidence can and cannot be used in voter fraud cases.
