Here's a few statements released from the McCain campaign from notable Minnesota Republicans. Congresswoman Michele Bachmann: "Sarah Palin demonstrated tonight exactly why America needs to put someone with a maverick streak in the White House. Instead of offering the same old, tired, jaded Washington responses like Joe Biden, Governor Palin offered plain old common-sense ideas and showed a brightness not only of mind, but of spirit." Congressman John Kline: "In tonight's debate, Governor Palin once again demonstrated her ability to connect with the American voter -- with whom she shares so many values and experiences. I was glad to see Governor Palin emphasize her continued commitment to an all-of-the-above energy policy -- for which my Republican colleagues and I have been fighting for months -- that will move America toward energy independence. Governor Palin continues to demonstrate that she will be a great partner for Senator McCain in changing how business is done in Washington." Rep. Laura Brod, Co-Chairwoman of Palin Truth Squad: "Tonight, in Sarah Palin, people saw an authentic person just like them. We saw a mother, a wife, and a Governor, who has a record of challenging the establishment and taking on those who seek to retain the status quo. On the other side, people saw in Joe Biden just another Washington insider, who's caught up in over 30 years of the beltway lifestyle of higher taxes and bigger federal government. Governor Palin will bring the same spirit and focus on reform to change Washington as she did to Alaska, and return the promise of our future to the many families who are struggling today throughout our great country." Ron Carey, Minnesota State Republican Party Chairman: "Governor Sarah Palin performed brilliantly in Thursday's debate. Not only did she meet, she exceeded all expectations. Her dedication to shaking up the status quo will bring a needed breath of fresh air to Washington. She proved that plainspoken, real-life results resonate with Minnesotans more than smooth-talking insider rhetoric. Her strong message of fiscal conservatism, lower taxes, and sticking up for the middle class continues to energize voters." |
