Jon Caldara, president of the Colorado-based Independence Institute, had this to say about the 2008 presidential election: The presidential candidates are, respectively, the most liberal senators of their parties. So really we have a Marxist running against a Democrat, but at least the Democrat's running mate is a Republican. This goes a long ways towards explaining the conservative movement's enthusiastic reception of Gov. Palin. |
