Planned "Actions" at Recruitment Centers Thursday
Twin City area Recuitment Centers will be paid a visit by anarkids April 23. From the Anti-War Committee:
Zero Recruitment Day is this Thursday, April 23! Actions will be taking place at military recruiting centers all over the Twin Cities and beyond!
The Anti-War Committee will take action at the Army Recruting Center on Lake St. & Lyndale Ave in Minneapolis from 8:30 am-6:00 pm.Our goals are to demonstrate visible opposition to the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, expose recruiter lies, and have a direct impact on the war by convincing potential recruits not to enlist! Through our signs and flyers we'll connect the war to the economic crisis under a banner of: Foreclose the War!
You're invited to hang out all day. We'll have planned rallies for Noon and 4:30 but stop by any time and bring friends! Follow us – and the other actions all day on http://twincities. indymedia. org/
Thankfully, MN College Republicans plan a counter-protest at the Army & Navy centers near the U of M:
For the past several years there has been a movement on college campuses around the country to blockade and shut down military duty stations. Here in the Twin Cities during the last 4 years this movement has shown itself and vandalized the recruiting centers near the University of Minnesota by using rocks to break windows, throwing paint on the glass and last year, by using bicycle locks to chain themselves to the door.
This year will be different. The Minnesota College Republicans have decided to fight back by holding a support the troop rally near the Navy and Army recruiting stations near the University of Minnesota campus. These anti-military, un-American activists can not go on any longer unopposed. The Minnesota College Republicans want to you join with us as we show support for our military by holding a rally near the Army and Navy recruiting centers to show that we support our military and the men and women who have sacrificed their lives to defend freedom.
Booyah. Join them if you can - or send a note of thanks/appreciation to your area recruiting center.
