The convention is over, but we who live in the Twin Cities are not through the ordeal just yet.
Prepare yourselves, my friends, for the onslaught of mind numbingly idiotic statements, excuses, threats of lawsuits and actual law suits as the children of unfit parents gather now to stamp their little feet in infantile outrage at having been spanked for their attempts to show mom and dad who is boss.
Oh, it’s started already. Yesterday, the group that decided to unilaterally change the terms of the march permit they were issued released a statement that exposes the delusions they have been operating under.
Organizers of the anti-war march that ended with nearly 400 arrests Thursday called for the resignation of Ramsey County Sheriff Bob Fletcher during a press conference outside St. Paul City Hall this afternoon.
The group said it might not have had a permit to march after 5 p.m., but it believed that St. Paul police were going to allow them to take to the streets [sure, why not..hadn't they been allowing that all week?~ed]. As the march began minutes before 5, St. Paul police told the crowd to disperse — it was unlawfully assembled.
Standoffs on the John Ireland and Cedar Street bridges leading into downtown ensued. When asked what police could have done differently Thursday night, Anti-War Committee member Katrina Plotz answered quickly.
"They needed to move out of our way and let us march," she said. "They blatantly chose to do something else."
Owww...oh, my achin' head. The police blatantly chose to....enforce....the.......law.
The best, or more properly stated, most painful moments and quotes are sure to come from the likes of Saint Paul councilman Dave Thune, who spend his time and the taxpayers dime, running around thwarting the cops at every opportunity to ensure that the filthy mob of spoiled children that assembled here to throw human waste at us was assured every opportunity to do so.
Councilman Thune has already promised to hold “truth and reconciliation” hearings at the earliest opportunity.
Oh, yeah…I’ll be there to speak some "truth to power".
