Who Are These People?
You've all seen the polls. We've all taken heart from the fact that both Obama and his policies have entered negative approval territory. We see headlines and news stories saying things like, "Only 47% approve Obama's handling of the economy." So here's my question: who ARE these people?! Is 47% of the American population just completely brain-dead, or been living in a box someplace for the last year? (I can understand if they are living in a box because of the mess Obama has made of the economy, but that's all the more reason they should have a good idea about what's really going on.)
I can understand why 53% of the people voted for him. They were fooled, or bought into the slick packaging and slicker promises. But now there is no excuse, is there? We've opened the slick package and found nothing inside, and all the promises have been not only broken but shattered, while the henchmen of his own party continue to invent new torments for us, even over the clear objections of the majority of us. One would like to think that neither ignorance nor apathy can account for more than a few percentage points of positive approval for the economic disaster and extraordinary incompetence on display in Washington these days. So who are these people answering these poll questions, and what is it going to take to wise them up?
