The Archbishop of Canterbury, Dr. Rowan Williams has done the world a great service.As head of the Anglican Church he speaks for a large percentage of Christians.His views on gays and Iraq have been publicized, and are most definitely left of center.

He has helped define the far Left movement that has slowly been dominating many Christian denominations.He has also been part of a new schism dividing the Church and diluting its mission.Now he wants to undermine British law.

Dr. Williams is of the opinion that the application of Sharia Law in the U.K. is “unavoidable”.He also holds the misapprehension that encouraging Sharia Law will “help maintain social cohesion”.As with many Liberal fantasies the opposite is the likely outcome of the good intention.

I can only imagine that the Archbishop, having an altruistic outlook and hoping for the best, can’t see the inevitable, that women and gays, people whom he wholeheartedly supports, would be at best marginalized in this system.Does he really want to tell a British subject that she is now a second class citizen because we must be sensitive to cultural differences?He must know how homosexuals are treated by Sharia Law.

How does one “maintain social cohesion” by promoting parallel legal systems?A democracy is createdby the rule of law, and maintained by the just application of that law.Allowing a sub group to establish courts for the purpose of adjudication is not just foolhardy, it is the path of subversion.As the supreme cleric of a Christian denomination, the suggestion that Islamic law is inevitable is more than subversive.It is apostasy.But then this is the man who suggested the nativity of Jesus Christ could be a “legend”.

Lest you think think this trend is confined to Liberal Europe, might I remind you of the "meditation room" at Normandale Community college? How about taxpayer funded foot baths at other MNSCU public colleges? There is also the quaint Muslim practice of men cleansing their private parts in men's room sinks before using the urinal. Minnesota high schools have been setting aside designated restrooms so our children aren't subjected to indecent exposure.

This is a symptom of a larger malady.I often write about how dangerous Liberal ideology is, because I truly believe it.We see the devastating results in our American society, how permissive and indulgent attitudes lead to decay and degradation.Now we see it pointing toward division and polarization in England.Instead of assimilation, Dr. Williams wants to encourage parallel societies because that division is “unavoidable”. It most certainly is avoidable using something we desperately need.The rule of Law.One law, one people. E Pluribus Unum, Dr. Williams.
