Liberal Ideology Is Evil PDF Print E-mail

I woke up this morning thinking about liberal ideology. About how it stands in stark contrast to the absolute resolution required to attain and preserve liberty and freedom. About how as a philosophy it has morphed from those very values into something other, something apart.

My nice little Lutheran church has an interim pastor right now. Some of you have read about the previous pastor in previous posts. This new gentleman has served the Church in Cairo, Egypt and in Jerusalem, Israel. Yes, Israel. I am a Zionist. Sue me. The Interim Pastor has been sharing his experiences in Israel with us, including his vehement opposition to the security wall, which the Evengelical Lutheran Church in America has condemned. He says that wall comprises a hardship to the Palestinians. Of course exploding buses are a hardship too, but then... We had several points of contention last Sunday, but the one that stands out, (and the reason I am not joining him this morning) was a series of pointed questions I asked him.

I wondered why the Palestinian Authority refused to abide by the Oslo Accords that they signed. I asked him why the poor oppressed folks in Gaza tore apart the greenhouses private parties had installed so they (the Palestinians) could begin developing an economy and feed themselves. I got the shoulder shrug and the vacant look in response.

Then I asked the key question: What is Israel supposed to do when the Palestinians elect a terrorist organization to govern and ignore agreements they have made? Pastor, do you think Hamas is a terrorist organization?
"Well, that's a complicated question."
"No, it's not. Do YOU think Hamas is a terrorist organization?"
"No, I don't."
We talk about moral relativism quite a lot. It's sometimes informative to see it in action.

Next week (when I feel up to more contention) I'm going to ask him if 40 million babies sucked out of wombs and thrown in the garbage is a bad thing. I suspect the answer will be "That all depends..."

Veterans, thank you from the bottom of my heart.
