Two bad-news items today (depending on your perspective): 1. Star Tribune skips quarterly debt payment of $9 million The newspaper still makes money, Harte added, and he doesn’t expect the missed payment to affect relationships with vendors or advertisers. The sky color in Strib's world? Green. 2. Agency files sexual harrassment suit against Star Tribune
The women said that beginning in August 2005 and continuing through the present, they were subjected to, among other things, "sexual harassment (including, but not limited to, propositions for sex, sexually suggestive conduct, favoritism towards female co-workers who participated in sexually provocative conduct, and sexual comments), which further created a sexually hostile work environment," according to the complaint. Benjamin Taylor, Star Tribune senior vice president of communications, said the company immediately investigated the allegations when it learned of them in 2006. The things that were said were inappropriate, Taylor said, but were not illegal. The river in Strib's world? Denial. Bottom line: creditors and lawsuit attorneys should not hold their breath on getting paid. Too bad they don't skip on their paychecks to Nick Coleman.
