GO VIKES!

Written by Sheila Kihne.

Just got back from the CostCo and Rainbow Foods-- everyone in Minnesota is having a party tonight.  And after a GREAT week to be a conservative, and after a GREAT laugh at the Sunday morning political shows, I'm in the mood for a party.

Living in Atlanta in 1998, I had shot off my mouth, made bets around the Office....put myself waaaay "out there" for the Purple and Gold.  We all know how it ended.  The Vikings played worse than a mediocre high school football team that day.  It was complete, total, humiliating defeat.

My heart closed to the team, (much like it's been closed to the Golden Gophers football team.)  I couldn't do it anymore, I couldn't invest my time in teams that couldn't win when they needed to win, when there was no good reason why they shouldn't have won.   I couldn't take being associated with losers anymore and I stopped believing.

But then came the magic of Brett Favre.  This man knows how to win and isn't it a wonder to watch?  Isn't it amazing what happens when somebody pours his heart out on that field?  How one man, one person can make such an impact on the entire psyche of a state.  God bless Brett Favre.

I've listened to my husband's cheers of total happiness "GO! GO! GO!  YESSSS!  WOO-HOO!!" and crys of "WHAT???? COME ON!!!" all season long and I can't wait to put all the angst of politics aside for one night, put all of my faith in a football team, put all my heart into one game....and believe again.

I love this video from Elmer Beauregard at Minnesotans for Global Warming....how does he put these together?  Awesome.

Dim lights

I gotta feeling too....and after twelve long years, I'm back on the bandwagon.  Go Vikes!
