Projection
One of the many epithets that the left loves to pour on right leaning individuals is that they are "haters"....any disagreement with ANY left leaning cause gets you labeled a hater. You don't believe that gay marriage is a "right" - you're a hater. Don't think that President Obama has the right answer on health care = hater...don't agree with him on cap and trade policy = hater...don't agree with the left on abortion = hater. The list goes on. But is that really true? Consider the reaction from the right when Ted Kennedy, Lion of the Senate was diagnosed with cancer. Did Rush Limbaugh go out and gleefully gloat over Senator Kennedy's illness? No. Did Sean Hannity pray for his death in retaliation for what Senator Kennedy "did" to Mary Jo Copeckne at Chappequiddick? NO. Did Michael Savage....well yes he did but then again Savage is an a.....
The bottom line is all of the mainstream representatives of "the right" except one did not turn the announcement of Senator Kennedy's illness into a chance to score political points? As a matter of fact they all (with the one noted exception) offered up prayers to the Senator and his family for his speedy recovery.
Our friends on the left are hardly ever as gracious...
Take, for example, this rant from MSNBC host "Fast Eddie" Schultz on his daily radio show. Upon learning that VP Cheney was in the hospital for another heart attack, Fast Eddie had this to say...
Liberal talk show host Ed Schultz would like to take the heart of former Vice President Dick Cheney – who is currently recovering from his fifth heart attack – and “rip it out and kick it around and stuff it back in him.”
On his radio show Wednesday, Schultz mocked conservatives who have attacked him for going after the health of the former vice president.
“You’re damn right, Dick Cheney's heart's a political football,” Schultz said, which was recorded by the media blog Radio Equalizer. “We ought to rip it out and kick it around and stuff it back in him."
And just to make sure that he riled up the base enough he followed that up with...
“How come Dick Cheney’s health care isn't being dropped?” Schultz asked. “Do you realize that if you had five heart attacks, hell, you wouldn't get past two heart attacks and they’d dump you.”
And this is not an isolated incident. Consider how are friends on the left reacted to the death of Pope John Paul II..
The New York Press published a cover storyin March 2005 entitled, “The 52 Funniest Things About the Upcoming Death of the Pope,” which included such knee-slappers as, “In his last days, the Pope was in tremendous pain”; “Beetles eating Pope's dead brains”; and “Pope pisses himself just before the end; gets all over nurse.”
The list goes on but I think you get the point.
But our friends on the left don't even wait for the objects of their ire to get ill as the linked to article points out...but never let facts get in the way of a good meme...the center right are the haters....RIGHT?
Not that I am complaining mind you. For you see the longer they do this, the more the American people see this for what it really is.....
