Throwing glitter, failing on delivery / Update: more on the Glitterati

Written by Nancy LaRoche.

Another angle on the glitterati that targeted Michele Bachmann Saturday at RightOnline conference (via Breitbart TV):

As U.S. Rep. Michele Bachmann concluded her remarks at the RightOnline Conference in Minneapolis, a liberal activist tried (and failed) to throw glitter on her because she disagrees with her position on an issue. Behold the state of the Modern Left: instead of engaging in substantive debate, just throw stuff at people with whom you disagree.

Good natured? Light hearted? Again, I ask after Newt Gingrich got glittered at a recent event: where's the security? Erin Haust tweeted a similar sentiment:

If they can throw glitter they can throw acid. These ppl r terrorists.

They think their bling bombs are earning support for their cause, but glitteratis come across as the intolerant they decry as haters. The thrower had her "anti-gay" talking points, but no substance other than her threat translated as "agree with us or we'll throw glitter at you in a light-hearted way." The woman at the end of the video nailed it, 'find out what it is to have integrity.' Tolerance works both ways.

Update: The Blaze has more on the group behind the glitter.

Update 2: Ed Morrissey at Hot Air fisks the girl behind the glitter.

Maybe Glitter Lady is a good metaphor for the Bachmann campaign. The Left keeps trying to hit her with silliness in order to derail her candidacy and give themselves a little flash of attention, but they keep missing the target. Don’t expect them to stop throwing mud — or glitter — any time soon.

Update 3: Jennifer Meckels at Newsy has more on mixed reactions of the glitter campaign.

As bloggers continue to debate the appropriateness of tossing glitter -- or any -- substance onto public figures... the glitter throwers have NOT yet faced any legal repercussions.
