Dayton Gets Failing Grade In Cato Institute Fiscal Policy Report

The Cato Institute has released a fiscal policy report card for America's 50 governors, and our governor stands firm...in 48th place.

Cato issued an overall grade of 21 for Mark Dayton, giving him an F and placing him just above Connecticut's Dan Malloy and Illinois' Pat Quinn for last in the country.

In describing Dayton's fiscal record, the institute noted that:

 

It didn't take long after he entered office for Governor Dayton to reveal his preferences for higher taxes and spending. General fund spending jumped almost 10 percent his first year in office.
