For The Fighting Double Aught!

Written by Lady Logician.

On Friday, my friend Gary Gross called me about a hysterical interview he had seen on Neil Cavuto's program.  Apparently someone from New Hampshire has launched a campaign for New Hampshire's "00" Congressional District, commenting just because we don't exist doesn't mean we don't deserve representation and "Even a fake district needs real leadership".  Jazz, Gary and I even shared a chuckle over it during our weekly MSR podcast.  I even posited that since the Utah Double Aught wasn't a real district, why not run a dog for the spot.  Our border collie certainly couldn't do much more harm in DC than some of our elected "representatives" are and she meets the age requirement. Little did we know that this was just the beginning of a trend.  It now appears that there are several candidates announcing for seats in phantom districts in Ohio and Kentucky.

In an effort to assure fiscal responsibility for funds spent in District 99, Cincinnati Tea Party’s Harald Zieger, has announced his candidacy. Article X of the Constitution authorizes resident aliens to represent districts receiving more than a million dollars in stimulus funds. Meanwhile Cincinnati 9/12 Project’s Matthew Burke has announced his candidacy for District 21. Article IX of the Constitution authorizes minors to represent districts created or saved by the administration provided they have parental consent.

While Jazz, Gary and I were having our discussion, the Junior Logician announced his intentions to run until his mother mentioned the age requirements.  If the Constitution says he can run, well consider this permission granted son.

There are plent of ways where you can have fun with this story and heaven knows if you don't have fun with the story, it will make you cry.  However, there are some very real concerns about it that simply can not be laughed away.  Take this quote from President Obama.

Fox News asked about the errors during an exclusive interview in China with President Barack Obama.

Obama brushed off the criticism, telling Fox News that the accounting is an "inexact science" and that any errors are a "side issue" when compared with the goal of turning the economy around.

"I think this is an inexact science. We're talking about a multitrillion-dollar economy that went through the worst economic crisis since 1933. The first measure of success of the economic recovery is, did we pull ourselves back from the brink? We did," Obama said.

Accounting an "inexact science"?  The last I looked accounting was MATHEMATICS which is a very exact science.  The last I was in school there were no multiple answers to the question "1+1="?...there is only ONE ANSWER MR. PRESIDENT!  This is not the square root of Pi, it is how much does the pie cost!

Now you know why people think this country is in such dire straits.  When you have a President (and a Congress to be fair) who thinks that math is an "inexact science" you have bigger problems than you can even imagine.
