Calling all undergraduates

Written by John R. LaPlante.

If you're an undergraduate student with an interest in public policy, or you know someone who is, head over to The Fund for the American Studies. They've got some internship programs in Washington, DC that are worth your attention.

The Fund has four summer instiutes, which will be held in June and July:

  • Comparative political and economic systems
  • Political journalism
  • Business and government affairs
  • Philanthropy and voluntary service

The internships include coursework at Georgetown University and guaranteed internship placements (30 hours a week) at various organizations, which in the past have included the Atlas Economic Research Foundation, C-SPAN, the National Federation of Independent Business, and Philanthropy Roundtable.

Unlike the internship I had (the local federal office of a well-known agency), you've got to pay for this one. But you do get academic credit, and, I suspect, a wealth of connections for a career in public policy.
