Divided We Fall

Written by PoliGrrl.

I just read an interesting blog post which I followed up with a bit more research. From Scientific American, Minnesota is planning "to add a carbon fee of between $4 and $34 per ton of carbon dioxide emissions to the cost of coal-fired electricity, to begin in 2012, to discourage the use of coal power; the greatest source of greenhouse gas emissions."

This effectively places a tariff on North Dakota energy products which are coal-based. What this also does is pits one state against another as North Dakota is going to counter with legal action.

The money and power grabs are at hand. It's bad enough the Al Gore acolytes refuse to entertain the thought that 'climate change' could be anything other than a money and power grab. I'm sure those at the top of the food chain are well aware of the redistribution that will take place, or rather, is taking place as a result of the rules and legislation being enacted. They have purposefully placed their money and resources to garner as much profit as possible once carbon credits, et al are the norm.

As for power, do some research on the name "Maurice Strong" and you'll see his connections to not only climate change but also to a new world order. According to Mr. Strong's website, he "is the world's leading environmentalist. He globalized the environmental movement." The following is a quote from him that I found on Townhall.com:

"Isn't the only hope for the planet that the industrialized civilizations collapse? Isn't it our responsibility to bring that about?"-Maurice Strong,Head of the 1992 Earth Summit in Rio de Janeiro

Sure, this sounds all like one big conspiracy theory but, the more connections that are made between those desiring a global governance and climate change, the more the United States *must* remain united. Pitting one state against another does nothing but disperse our power as a country.

Health care is doing the same thing with sweetheart deals for individual states to entice them to vote for whatever health care abomination is presented; can you say "Senator Ben Nelson of Nebraska?" Even California's RINO Governor Schwarzenegger is railing against Nebraska as a result.

While hopefully our leaders aren't in favor of a global governance, they are doing us no favors by forcing each state to fend for itself. Ramming through legislation for climate change and health care is eliminating one thing that has made this country great since its inception: open debate. Al Gore says there is a consensus regarding climate change, but he has never debated anyone on the topic and won't. I say he is being un-American.

Congress is ignoring public opinion on health care and pushing it through in spite of it all. They aren't even giving anyone in Congress time to read those hefty bills much less any time to digest the ramifications or counter with any other ideas or opinions; little to no debate. One dictionary entry for the word 'debate' is interesting: debate (noun): deliberation; consideration. We have seen neither.

As legislation goes forward, how united are we going to be? Our founding fathers were not united on everything except that the states must be united against the tyranny imposed by England. Our Constitution was written around that belief that we are to be united as a country. They knew of the pressures we would face even then. Recent quotes from some of the politicians indicate that Congress is leaving the Constitution to others to read and interpret in spite of their oath (emphasis is mine):

I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter: So help me God.

Regardless of party affiliation, more people are standing up to be heard. The people are uniting. Hopefully we can ensure that legislation proposed and passed by our politicians won't cause divides that will cause us to fall.
