Whats The Definition Of Insanity?

Written by Lady Logician.

Answer: Doing the same thing, over and over, expecting different results.

The headline on the WCCO website reads, "Proposed Minneapolis-Duluth Rail Line Given Name."

Didn't we have a Minneapolis to Duluth rail line? Why yes! Yes indeed we did! And it failed miserably.

It was closed down due to a lack of ridership, inefficient, expensive, high fuel costs that were never recovered, and it took between 5 and 8 hours in what a drive in an automobile amounts to a two hour trip.

Yet, here we are again getting ready for the "Northern Lights Express," an absolute boondoggle, that will never turn a profit.

If it's such a great idea, why isn't one of the rail road company's involved? Why isn't the private sector involved? Why is no entrepreneur involved? Could it possibly be they see a turkey?

So you take the train to Duluth. What are you going to do when you get there? How are you going to get around? Just with that thought in mind, you are spending substantially more money than you would be by driving.

This is a pork barrel project, plain and simple. It is a waste of taxpayer money that we can not afford. The State is already close to a billion dollars in the red, and the last I heard, the federal government is running a deficit, so common sense spells it out very plainly. We can't afford it.
